Coded in GD website to John 'Walking' Stewart DNB 1747-1822, but should be Rev John Stewart of Charterhouse. Wife Eliza, dau Louisa married Francis Eccles Barker of Admiralty Office (Cornish Archives TF/2649)

26.9.1809 call on Williams / 10.7.1810 Williams calls

The 1809 call was in a string of booksellers Godwin visited so probably a bookseller. From bbti Thomas Williams at 10 Stationer's-court (or Williams & Co hard by it in Ave Maria-lane, in Holdens directory 1811 but not in bbti) were the most likely, Ewan Williams at 11, Strand was a bit further afield There was also a Thomas Williams at 156 Leadenhall-st up until 1809.

Wilmot

James Wilmott & Robert Hill, stationers & booksellers 50 High-st Borough trading as Wilmott & Hill from 1801 to 1812 (bbti). The two Hills are coded to Thomas Hill in the GD website, but look closely at the syntax. Godwin would have had to cross London Bridge to make these calls. The next instances of Wilmot are all at Walking Stewart's, so quite likely to have been a different Wilmot

Walker, John

22.12.1788 see John Walker.

J Walker was in Godwin's 1796 list near the end of 1788, crossed out, and in 1794 version as John Walker.
Since Godwin saw him after dining at George Robinson's this may well have been Robinson's brother-in-law 'the book-auctioneer of the trade' mentioned in the DNB article on the Robinson family of booksellers. But John Walker was a very common name.

William Joy bookseller Ave Maria-lane 1807, Cradock & Joy publishers 3 Ave Maria-lane, 32 Paternoster-row from 1809 to 1815 (bbti) thereafter Baldwin, Cradock & Joy. SunFire 1810 Charles Cradock & William Joy 32 Paternoster-row booksellers. Morning Chronicle 18.5.1813 at Forcett Mr Charles Cradock of Paternoster-row to Miss Clerk, only daughter of William Clerk, Esq of Barforth Hall, nr. Richmond, Yorks. William Joy left the partnership in 1826 and carried on at 66 St Pauls Churchyard
