the only Barton entry till 1818,possibly a friend of Matthew Moore, though they may have called quite separately

John Barton was delegate of Div 27 of the LCS in the first half of 1795 (Thale p262) and was on the executive committee in July & August 1795 (Thale p257-290). He may have been the J Barton to whom the Manchester reformers sent a letter at Red Lion, Grosvenor Sq (Thale p347n). John Barton of James St Grosvenor Sq insured Sun F 1782, John Barton kept the Cock, New St, Broad St, St James, served on coroners, juries 1793-9 and in 1799 an inquest was held there, he voted Fox & Graham in 1802. John Barton victualler of the Ham & Windmill in Windmill St Haymarket gave evidence in the trial of John Fennell (probably a United Irishman) for forgery to the effect that his confederate Gillington who gave evidence against him was untrustworthy. John Barton victualler of the Strand voted Sheridan 1806
