Heyne went to India as a missionary and Benecke ran the factory with the help of his brother Friedrich Benecke (1774-1841) a chemist. (Marquardt II p82 n236 / p83 n239). His first wife was Dorothea Henrietta Maria Paxmann, they had four children. By 1814 he was married to his second wife, Louise (nee Falcke) (1782-1876) daughter of the Burgermeister of Hannover (Marquardt II p84 n240). Benecke's son Friedrich Wilhelm married Henriette Elizabeth Souchay (1807-1893) in October 1826 (Marquardt  II p103 n293). They were the W Benecke and Mrs W Benecke in HCR diary above. Levin Benecke's daughter Carolina Mathilde (born 1801) married on 11.4.1832 at Heidelberg the painter Johann Heinrich Carl Koopmann (1797-1894) (Marquardt II p335). Levin Benecke's son Victor (born 1809) married Emmeline Schunk (Marquardt II p369 n221). Alfred Benecke, who was baptised 4.5.1818 at Deptford, son of Friedrich Benecke the chemist and his wife Wilhelmina Elizabeth, married in 1850 Adelhard or Adelaide Souchay, daughter of Charles Souchay who was the brother of Mrs W Benecke.
