Probably George Gregory (DNB 1754-1808). Colleague of Andrew Kippis, who was Miss Williams' chief mentor, in his biography work. Subscribed to HMWilliams' poems 1786 as did a Thomas Gregory, Esq. In Godwin's 1796 list H M Williams, S Rogers and G Gregory are the last three entries for 1787, and H Barry is the first in 1788. Since they are all habitués of Miss Williams' tea parties we may guess that Godwin went to one of these in late 1787 and another in early 1788, (where he possibly also met the next two names in the 1796 list, J Adams and Col Smith).

Gregory jr in 1807 at Joseph Johnson's may have been one of the sons of George Gregory, who had married Eliza Nunes of Hackney there on 22.11.1787. John Swarbreck Gregory was born 15.9.1788 and bapt 6.11.1788 at St Giles Cripplegate where his father was curate. He was articled to an attorney in 1804 and died 23.7.1860. His brother Philip Foster Gregory was born 23.11.1790 and bapt 6.3.1791 St Giles Cripplegate, was articled to an attorney in 1807, his will PCC 6.5.1852. They had a sister who married John Walter (DNB 1776-1847) in 1815 and died the same year
