True Briton 5.7.1794 Marchioness de Marnesia, emigrant and painter died at her lodgings in Poland St / Morning Post 17.12.1793 Mary Robinson's Monody to the Memory of the Queen of France published embellished with a painting of (Marie Antoinette) taken shortly before her death by the Marchioness de Marnesia engraved by Legoux (QV*) (The original miniature was sold at Bonhams for £696 in 2005, her painting of a castle was sold at Christie's 1991 for £3300). Her lodgings may well have been at 52 Poland St where Lewis Legoux engraver and his father the surgeon were living / Claude Francois de Lezay Marnesia 1735-1800 who wrote the articles on 'Thief' and 'Masturbation' for Diderot's Encyclopaedia and was an enthusiast for the French Revolution married 3.3.1766 Marie Claudine de Nettancourt born 6.5.1746 died London 27.9.1794 (Ancestry user submitted tree the death date clashes with the newspaper report)
