Robert Morrisson of Robert Morris of Swansea. Matric. from Oriel College, Oxford 20.5.1760 age 16. Adm. Lincolns Inn 13.1.1763. BA Oxford 1764. MA Cambridge 1767. Called to bar 1767. According to Alum Cantab "Advocate of Lord Baltimore in the memorable trial of his lordship for a rape on Miss Woodcock, which gained him the confidence and approbation of his Lordship, after whose death he carried off his patron's daughter, a ward of Chancery, and, although they were afterwards married in France and Italy, yet on their return to England, after two years' sojournment abroad, their union was dissolved by the lady's desire" (Frederick Cakvert, 6th Baron Baltimore DNB 1732-1771). However St James Chronicle 13.2.1768 named Lord baltimore's counsel at the Kings Bench as Mr Recorder Eyre, Mr Wedderburn & Mr Thurlow, whence he was committed for trial at Kingston Assizes, where The Trial of Frederick Calvert taken by Joseph Gurney named his counsel as Mr Recorder, Mr Bishop, Mr Lucas and Mr Shaw. However Robert Morris was an executor of Frederick Calvert's will and two of the main beneficiaries were Henry Harford age 9 and Frances Mary Harford age 8 children of Hester Rhelan of Ireland both born in Bond St, and St James Chronicle 13.2.1781 reported the case in Chancery before Lord Mansfield to secure Miss Harford, commonly called Mrs Morris, against the violence of Mr Robert Morris, who called himself her husband. Miss Harford was suing in the Ecclesiatical Court to prove a nullity of marriage. Morris was said to have carried her off at little more than 12 years of age, and she was said in the newspaper to have just turned 21. The will PCC of Robert Morris of Swansea dated 21.2.1768 and proved 3.6.1768 mentioned his wife Margaret, his daughters Margaret, Mary, Jane, and Bridget wife of Thomas Lockwood, his sons John, and Robert now of Lincolns Inn Esq, his partner John Lockwood in the copper trade, and his rope trade. Robert Morris Lincolns Inn voted Fox 1784. Robert Morris bach = Holborn 28.6.1785 Sarah Pritchard sp by lic wits Ann Lucas, Michl Southcote. World 2.3.1790 the lady of Robert Morris died at Swansea, her will proved PCC 10.2.1791. Robert Morris was buried 29.11.1793 at Fattyghur, India age 51. Oracle 26.9.1794 died lately in the East Indies Robert Morris Esq. of Swansea. His will dated 19.4.1791 codicil 14.5.1791 on board Airly Castle proved PCC 4.12.1797 mentioned his nephew Robert, sister Mrs Desenfans, sister Mary, sister Jane (Treherne?), brother John (later a baronet), and Alexander Raby Esq "to whom he owed everything".
