HCR diary 29.1.1845 called on "Miss Denman but I did not go in. Her sister Marian was buried that morning from the house - a happy release for the survivors at all events"

1.2.1845 "I found Miss Denman in trouble - She has been ill-treated by Miss Bourgoin with whom her late sister Marian lived but she ought to feel the death of her sister a great comfort"

Mary Ann Denman buried 29.1.1845 from Upper Norton St age 64. She was an unmarried sister of Maria Denman, perhaps the Mary Ann Denman bapt 3.1776 at Whitechapel, though her age at death suggests she…

Bowler, John

John Bowler of Hounslow plumped for Burdett

Land Tax Heston 1802 JB £5 pa freehold 1814 £11 pa freehold. This suggests he would have been entitled to a vote as a 40 shilling freeholder without a Mill share so there may have been two John Bowlers in Heston parish (where Hounslow is). A John son of Thomas & Dinah Bowler was bapt Heston 27.1.1782 so this may have been the Mill voter age 20, as Dinah dau of John & Dinah Bowler was bapt 11.3.1792 Heston, Dinah Bowler was buried 17.10.1794 Heston and Elizabeth dau of John & Elizabeth Bowler was bapt 23.9.1804 Heston.

Possibly one of the daughters of Robert Boyce appraiser, will PCC 1827, grandfather of George Price Boyce DNB 1826-1897. His will mentioned three daughters, Sarah, Mary and Joanna Petronella, but I could only find baptisms for Elizabeth born 1798, Sarah born 1799 and Joanna Petronella born 1803. If Fred. Winsor was 12 years old (see my entry for him) it was most likely to have been the eldest. Since Frederick Winsor lost his mother when he was an infant, Miss Boyce may have been an older person looking after him for…
