Holt senr [sign] 23.3.1805 & pressmen at Philips

Thomas Littleton Holt printer Strand was bankrupt 1806 and was a printer at 266 Strand in 1838. He was baptised in Bermuda 1779 and married Zillah Hughes at St James Picc'y 12.6.1802 and died 8.1851 aged 72 his will PCC 1852 St Pancras. Wilkie who was also present at Phillips that day may have been Thomas Wilkie publisher of the London Chronicle


Holt, Elizabeth

John Thelwall's older sister Elizabeth who married John Holt Esq of the Inner Temple, whose will PCC 1799 didn't mention her. Her visit to Foulkes, Thelwall's attorney, as her brother's trial begins is unsurprising

Hompesch

Probably Charles Theodore Joseph Anton Baron Hompesch (will PCC 1812 formerly of Bollheim Westphalia but late of Rosenau, Datchet, Bucks, Lt General in British Service) of the Hungarian nobility. Served in Trinidad and St Domingo 1797 where his regiment of hussars was reduced by fever from 1100 to 300 men. His 2nd batallion sailed from Cowes to Cork 13.4.1798. On 4.7.1801 he took part in a sailing match on the Thames. Lived at Nine Elms, Battersea Fields where his natural only daughter shot herself July 1801, having…

Perhaps Martha Hooke will PCC 1813 spinster of Norwich, friends Elisha de Hague and William Simpson both of Norwich executors. Mentioned Benjamin Randall and Naomi, widow of late brother Edmund Hooke, his will PCC 1812 of St Giles Norwich and Mulbarton, which was close to Bracon where Merry lived and Godwin was apparently staying

John Hoper was an attorney of Lewes in 1784 and 1800, there were also attorneys Messrs Hoper at Boyle Court St James in London 1800. John Hoper subscr 1795 to Dunvan's History of Lewes, 1816 to a novel by Mrs Jenner. A Mrs Hoper subscr 1794 to the Hastings Guide. There was also a Thomas Hooper gent of Cliffe, Lewes will PCC 1830

Hopkinson, Charles

Hopkinson's bank at 3 Regent St, built in 1825, architect George Stanley Repton (1786-1858). Their previous address was 6 St Albans St, Pall Mall.  Charles born 3.1.1804 baptised St James Piccadilly son of Charles 1772-1830 (will PCC 1830) and his wife Arabella (nee Sainsbury) whom he married 21.8.1798. His grandfather George Caesar Hutchinson (will PCC 1825) founded the bank in 1795. Charles Hopkinson (1804-1882) married 27.4.1837 Clara Bunny. Their country seat was at Wotton, Glos, Charles…

CURRENT TEXT "Hopwood died in London on 29 August 1819 and was survived by his sons James Hopwood the younger (b.c.1795) and William Hopwood (1784-1853), both of whom were born in Beverley and followed"

SUGGESTED CHANGE <Hopwood died in London on 29 August 1819, his age given at burial at St Pancras was 68. With his wife Elizabeth he had at least eleven children, all but the youngest one were baptised at Campsall near Doncaster before he came to London. His sons James Hopwood the younger (bapt. 1791) and William Hopwood (bapt. 1783-1853)…

Marquardt II p 82-5 Johannes Hörmann born in Hamburg active in business in London but without his own firm, very musical, introduced to Robinson by William Rough (DNB 1772/3-1838). He left England in 1811 and returned in 1816, living from 1817 with William Benecke, through which connection Robinson met Benecke. None of the James Horne records below seem to have had any links with Fenchurch St which is near Bishopsgate where Lestourgeon and Page, the two earlier members of this division lived. Maiden Lane and Huggin Lane were both near Aldersgate, half a mile to the west, and Holborn a mile to the west.
