Otley

Otley 2.1.1790 at Holcroft's & 31.3.1790, 1.9.1790, 5.4.1791, 7.7.1791 there; 5.11.1791 at his; 6.7.1792 at Holcroft's; 11.11.1815 at Knowles'; 30.6.1834 Godwin calls on

Otley appeared 7 times between 1790 and 1792 always with Holcroft and mostly with known musicians (Clementi, Shield, Bosse). On 6.7.1792 Godwin listed 8 guests at Holcroft's and added 'quartets' - all the other 7 can be shown to be professional or amateur musicians which suggests Otley was a musician too

Ouvry

meet Ouvry 4.2.1805 & Thos Campbell

Peter Aime Ouvry (see his son Frederic Ouvry DNB 1814-1881) was an under secretary at the Ordnance Office, and brother in law of John Payne Collier DNB 1789-1883. The will of his father PCC 1808 Peter Ouvry of Acton mentioned a daughter Francesca who had married 2.12.1797 at Acton John Henry Campbell, a Major in the Army 1794 who joined the Whig Club in 1798 and died at Ramsgate 9.3.1834 aged 72. Perhaps he was a relative of the poet Thomas Campbell DNB 177-1844 (who was very likely the person Godwin met with or on the same day as Ouvry) but I…

Probably William Owen (Pughe) DNB 1759-1835. His Cambrian Biography was published London 1803 with no publisher named and the final instalment of his Welsh & English Dictionary was printed the same year for Evan Williams, Strand successor to the late Richmond Blamire (his will PCC 1799). So no clear link to Richard Phillips, but Godwin's reading of…
