HCR diary 17.7.1841 Mrs Ley, Mrs Aders' daughter "has however introduced her mother to a good wealthy woman a Mrs Hutchinson of Stepney who will probably patronise Mrs A:, while she casts off Mrs Ley"

The will PCC 1857 of Susanna Beverley Hutchinson of ChesterTerrace, Green St, Bethnal Green dated 27.3.1856 left all to Mrs Mary Ann Joyce now living with me, wife of my nephew William Joyce, who proved the will. She died on 9.12.1856 aged 74 according to the newspaper and aged 69 according to the burial record at Stepney. John Davison Hutchinson widower had married at Lambeth on 10.11…

Kiesewetter, Christoph Gottfried

HCR diary 17.5.1822 "dinner party at Aders - a musical genius there Kiesewetter - whose performance when I was told it was super excellent I could perceive to be good"

Christoff Gottfried Kiesewetter 1777-1827 now most famous for the Stradivarius violin he owned. He was first violin at His Majesty's Chapel Royal Hanover and his first performance in England was at Drury Lane Theatre in 1821, see Morning Post 29.3.1821. He died in London in 1827

Benjamin Kingsbury formerly a dissenting minister at Warwick, by 1797 supplying razors, toothbrushes &c at 85 Piccadilly and 3 Mitre Court, Fleet St. According to Surman Index born 1765 at Warwick, studied 1783 at Daventry under Thomas Belsham (DNB 1750-1829), minister 1786 at High St Warwick, 1790 at Oat St, Evesham (see Worcester Archives 898.4/5196/2/i) "very clever, has good dispositions" "conduct has been very inpudent, and singular".                     10.8.1832 "went to Mrs Aders - Knight there - consequently not much"

Knight was a very common name and these were the only times they were mentioned in HCR diary in connection with the Aders. It was shortly before Aders' financial problems became public. Nevertheless I could make a stab at guessing this was the family of Charles Knight (DNB 1791-1873)


L'Evesque

HCR diary 22.3.1838 "I have some hope of obtaining throughh L'Evesque an introduction to Seguire"

Seguire was William Seguier (DNB 1772-1843), keeper of the National Gallery from 1824 (QV*). Robinson wanted to sell some of Aders' pictures to the Gallery. The most prosperous Levesque in London was Peter Levesque of 29 Guildford St, Russell Sq, who was Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries, of the Royal Geographical Society, and active in the Royal Literary Fund.
