I looked at a number of Aris families including the printers of Birmingham, and I researched in detail the family of Thomas Aris, governor of Cold Bath Fields prison, something of a hate figure for radicals in the late 1790s and 1800s, who seemed unlikely and the details of whose family turned out not to fit these Aris's anyway. I found one family with a few connections to this one, by virtue of living in the parish of St George Bloomsbury and of being connected by marriage to a Winnall family, the two names both being rather rare.
Elizabeth Aris spinster of Bloomsbury St George married by licence there 25.4.1792 Henry Lagden of Abington, Cambs bachelor, wits. Frances Aris, Chas Reynolds. Elizabeth Aris was baptised 1772 and her sister Frances Letitia baptised 1773 at Uffington Shropshire, daughters of James & Mary Aris. Mary Winnall married James Aris at Uffington in 1767, and after his death married William Winnall of Kidderminster, Worcs on 24.12.1788. Frances Letitia Aris spinster of Little Abington, Cambs will proved PCC 1808. Her older brother James Aris baptised 1769 will proved 1808 (Nat Arch IR26/358) of Uffington. William Winnall son of Mr James Winnall apothecary of Shrewsbury and his wife Mary married Mary Reynolds 1784.
The Aris's and miss Winal got somewhat involved in Godwin's relations with the Reveleys and the Jenningses, see my article in blog section of this website.
