Crompton 16.3.1789 at miss Williams'.

Perhaps Hannah, widow of Samuel Crompton of Clapham who subscribed £50 to Hackney College 1788 (his will PCC 1787, hers PCC 1817) see her son Crompton, Woodhouse. She was born Hannah Woodhouse and married Samuel Crompton on 4.5.1769 at St Bartholomew the Great, London. They had another son John William and two daughters, Elizabeth Ann & Dorothea, who might also be possibles at Miss Williams as Godwin used the female plural 'mes'. Mrs Crompton of Clapham subscribed to Enfield's Sermons 1778, Hood's sermons 1782, The Village Maid an opera by a young lady 1792, Winterbotham's America 1795, & Artless Tales by Mrs Ives Hurry 1808.

Other possible Cromptons are Elizabeth, wife of Thomas Crompton rector of Cranworth, Norfolk, who subscribed 1795 to Poems by Sarah Spence of Bury, and who is mentioned along with T J Matthias in the will PCC 1809 of Rev Nicholls (see Nicholls, Norton) whose mother Jane (nee Floyer) may have been the female Nichols at miss Williams on 16.3.1789, Rev Nicholls himself having no wife or sisters. Or perhaps female relatives of Benjamin & James Crompton, of a paper and carpet warehouse Caring Cross who joined the Whig club in 1784; of James Crompton in 1798 Law List, notary public of 14, Tooke's Court, Cursitor St, and attorney to the Lord Mayor's Court Office, Royal Exchange; of James Crompton Esq freeholder of Middlesex in interest of Sir Francis Burdett 1804; of Peter Crompton, MD of Derby who subscribed to Jebb's Works 1787; of Dr Crompton of Eaton, Liverpool who subscribed 1812 for Mr White, Liberty of the Press;
