William Gillam of Brunswick Row, Queen Square proposed Society for Constitutional Information 15.9.1780 by Capel Lofft 2nded Edward Bridgen withdrew 6.4.1781

His father William Gillum otp bach = St Margaret Patten 10.5.1761 Mary Miller sp of St Margaret Westminster a minor by lic, their son William born 10.3.1762 bapt 4.4.1762 St Margaret Patten. William senior (and probably his father John before him) was a clerk in the Secretary's office at East India House, his will PCC 1769 mentioned his wife Mary and sons William, Thomas and Ralph. The will of his brother Thomas dated 10.1.1781 as he set out for Madras made his mother Mary of Brunswick Row, Queen Square executrix and she proved it PCC 22.4.1802. William junior was also a clerk at East India House from 1779 to 1787. He married at Funtington Sussex 5.3.1785 Sarah Rennard. Morning Chronicle 9.3.1787, 23.5.1788, 26.11.1788, Public Advertiser 14.2.1789, Woodfall's Diary 11.11.1789 reports of William Fector's private theatre in Dover for which Mr Gillum wrote prologues and epilogues. Whitehall Evening Post 20.11.1787 review of William Gillum's Miscellaneous Poems & a Farce, What Will The World Say? dedicated to William Fector (who was only 19 and took the leading roles in Mahomet, Tamerlane &c). Gillum's satire was often aimed at the Whigs and he turned more to political commentary. True Briton 30.10.1794 extract from his Address to the Proprietors of East India Stock (by Anti Carmagnol) Sun 13.1.1795 his Considerations on the War with France, Sun 28.11.1795 his argument against a radical Mr Hanson at Lewes meeting. St James Chronicle 2.1.1797 reported his death and his will PCC 1797 William Gillum of Walberton, Sussex
