Probably David Godfrey whose will PCC 1798 of Isleworth dated 22.11.1795, mentioned his schoolfellow Philip Francis of St James Sq (Sir Philip Francis DNB 1740-1818 went to St Pauls school) his godson Philip Francis, James Archdekin of Berners St (whose will PCC 1803 dated 5.8.1801 mentioned Philip Francis, John & Lucy Godfrey of Bedford Sq and Harwood's debt), and Charles James Fox, as well as his brother John Godfrey of Welby nr Melton Mowbray Leics, his late brother Peter, his sisters Ann Vieusseux and Elizabeth Gravier, William Harwood of Hanwell Park, and Peter son of William Godfrey of Woodford Essex. Or could have been his brother John Godfrey of Bedford Sq who died 20.12.1810 will PCC 1811. Both brothers had an address at the Adelphi when they joined the Whig Club in 1784 and they also belonged to the Friends of the People 1795 and signed the declaration of Friends to the Liberty of the Press 1791. David Godfrey gent of Adelphi voted Townshend 1788 Fox & Tooke 1790 Fox 1796 and was a merchant at 82 Gt Queen St 1782-1783. John Godfrey of Terrace, Adelphi was a director of the Sun Fire Office 1791. There was also a will PCC 1825 of David Godfrey gentleman of Lambeth, Surrey and a Major John Godfrey of Chester St St Geo Han Sq voted Burdett 1818. A Samuel Godfrey of 38 Fore St attorney was mentioned in Thale London Corresponding Society p50-7 14.2.1793
