William Hamilton born 1758 Strabane co. Tyrone, elected physician to London hospital 1787, Physician to Surrey Dispensary resigned by 1806 (Morning Post 27.2.1806), died 22.5.1807 of Old Broad St (Monk's Roll). Haven't found any will of his. The Hamilton, friend of Curran's, of 1804 seems likely to have been a different person, Godwin having already noted a dr Hamilton earlier that year, and though they were ten years apart, the presence of Bell might suggest the same dr Hamilton in 1794 and 1804, the Irish origin of Dr hamilton 1758-1807 making him a more probable friend or possible relative of Hamilton Rowan. Other doctors named Hamilton were Dr Hamilton 2 Hill St Berkeley Sq in Boyle's 1792 / Robert Hamilton DNB 1749-1830 born Coleraine Ireland, physician at Ipswich from 1785 politically an ardent reformer / William Hamilton MD of Halesworth Suffolk bought the property of Dr Langslow (qv) his will PCC 1809 his widow Marianne / Dr James Hamilton of Finsbury Sq DNB 1740-1827 distinct from Dr James Hamilton DNB 1749-1835 and Dr James Hamilton DNB 1767-1839 both at Edinburgh.
