Christopher Harris of Shore Place, Hackney proposed Society for Constitutional Information 7.12.1787 by Michael Pearson 2nded John Redman
I found no connection with Shore Place, Hackney but this seems likely to have been the following Christopher Harris (because of Revolution Society committee 1788, subscription to Winterbotham 1795, and phrase re: liberty in his will written 1786).Christopher Harris appr 16.4.1784 for 7 yrs to George Bewley watchmaker of St Luke's, Old St, premium £40 / Christopher Harris of St Olave, Old Jewry = St Olave Bermondsey 28.2.1782 Ann Read otp by lic wits Henry Read, Hannah Harris, Catharine Ridout / Christopher Harris ratebooks Old Jewry 1782-1794 / Bailey's directory 1785 Wakefield's 1790 Christopher Harris 27 Old Jewry clock & watchmaker / World 8.10.1787 Christopher Harris steward of Revolution Society meeting (along with Michael Pearson) / Christopher Harris of Old Jewry 5.11.1788 Revolution Society committee, was lately the Secretary (Abstract of history & proceedings p 11 & 16) / Christopher Harris, London sub 1788 to John Hellins' Mathematical essays / Christopher Harris Old Jewry sub 1795 to William Winterbotham / his will PCC 19.5.1795 dated 31.5.1786 Christopher Harris watch & clock maker of St Olaves Old Jewry mentioned wife Ann, brother John Harris of Allhallows Barking, "sentiments of religious and civil liberty" / John Harris watchmaker was at 27 Old Jewry from 1799 to 1811. He was perhaps the John Harris son of Christopher Harris hatter of Maidstone apprenticed to Robert Poole of the Clockmakers Company, premium paid by Christ's Hospital school, and (according to Britten's Old Clocks 9th edition) turned over to Christopher Harris of the Saddler's Company. Britten's Clocks also mentions a Joseph Harris clockmaker of Maidstone on a trade card c.1770, and a Christopher Harris honorary freeman of Clockmakers Company 1782, of Maidstone High St, succeeded by Mrs Beeching. The Richard Harris watchmaker at 27 Old Jewry in directories 1790-1792 may have just been an error for Christopher. There was a John Harris watchmaker of Bear Lane, Tower St, All Hallows Barking will PCC 3.4.1766 dated 3.4.1766 who only mentioned two sons John & Thomas in his will and also cut his wife Mary off with a shilling. He had properties in Butcher Row, St Clement Danes, Stoke Newington, and Lord's Hold, Hackney. Christopher Harris may have been his son or (perhaps more likely) his grandson. Christopher Harris may have been baptised on 25.4.1749 at Maidstone Earl St Presbyterian, and may have been the son of Christopher Harris hatter of Maidstone, who voted at Maidstone in 1761 and 1768, subscribed to Joshua Toulmin 1777, and was listed in Bailey's directory 1784. A Christopher Harris of London voted for George Byng at Maidstone in 1788. A Christopher Harris was buried at Maidstone All Saints on 27.4.1795 and a Christopher Harris senior buried there on 6.1.1796. According to an Ancestry user-submitted tree one of the children of Christopher Harris the hatter was Rev Abraham Harris 1759-1820, I couldn't find him in Surman Index or Oxford and Cambridge admissions, but an Abraham Harris hatter of Whitechapel Rd went bankrupt in 1802
