There are 5 entries in the DNB for Doctor Hunters in 1798, but Alexander H 1729?-1809, Andrew H 1744-1809 and John H 1745-1837 were more likely to have been found in their respective professional spheres of York, Edinburgh and St Andrews. John Hunter DNB 1754-1809 physician worked in London and the first edition of his Diseases of the Army in Jamaica had been published by Nicol in 1788 but the 2nd edition was published by Johnson in 1796. Henry Hunter DNB 1741-1802 got his DD in 1771 and was minister at the Scots church London Wall. Johnson was listed on the title page as selling his Sermons 1795 and Sermons by him and Fell in 1798. On 20.3.1798 and 6.8.1799 another guest at Johnson's was Holloway. If this was Thomas Holloway DNB 1748-1827 an engraver who had done many plates for Henry Hunter's 1789 translation of Lavater's Essays on Physiognomy published by Murray, in which Henry Fuseli - a close friend of Johnson's and also present on those dates - had also played a part, that makes those entries at least, more likely to have been Henry Hunter. (A rival translation of Lavater by Thomas Holcroft was published by Robinson also in 1789 and a third by Charles Moore was published by H D Symonds in 1797).Johnson's great nephew Rowland Hunter, who assisted him in his business, was quite likely some or all of the plain Hunter entries at Johnson's, and from 1802 onwards Godwin often noted a Capt Hunter at Johnson's
