Taking the "for the fist time" on 16.7.1794 to mean since Bonney had been in the Tower (since 19.5.1794), all the above (except perhaps 12.8.1794 for which see Nevinson, Charles) were probably Charles Tomkins,DNB 1757-1823 husband of Bonney's wife's sister Ann. He married Ann Hague sp of Hammersmith 11.7.1782 at St Marylebone. He had five younger brothers so some of the entries above could have been one of them or even Mrs Tomkins without the Mrs, but it seems likely from the pattern of visits that this was all one person and Bonney's most frequent visitor. Charles Tomkins printseller of Kensington was declared bankrupt November 1800, his attorney Thomas Hague (qv).

GODWIN DIARY 19.6.1796 at Tooke's

Likely to have been the same Charles Tomkins DNB 1757-1823 artist, as John Augustus Bonney  was also at Tooke's that day

AMENDMENTS TO OXFORD DNB

SUGGESTED ADDITION (pehaps before "Many of his watercolour drawings") <In November 1800 he was declared bankrupt as a printseller of Kensington.>
NOTES Gale's British Newspapers. His attorney was Thomas Hague, his wife's brother

CURRENT TEXT "He died in 1823."
SUGGESTED CHANGE <He married Ann Hague of Hammersmith at St Marylebone on 11 July 1782, and died in 1823.>
NOTES I haven't found details of his death, or the source for 1823 as his year of death

Jan 2015 the DNB have added my information on his marriage, but not on his bankruptcy, and they have credited my website in the Sources.
