SOCIETY FOR CONSTITUTIONAL INFORMATION: John Vardy of Grosvenor Place original member 1780 (near neighbour of Frederick Vincent QV*)

Son of John Vardy (DNB 1717/8-1765) who married Hannah Hill at St Marylebone 10.4.1744, both of St James, Piccadilly. Their son John born c.1745  Edward bapt St Mary's, Hampton 5.10.1746, George bapt St Martin i t Fields 11.12.1748, Margaet bapt there 3.10.1751, Elizabeth bapt Chelsea Hospital 8.8.1756. John Vardy enrolled at Westminster School age 7 in 1752, suceeded his father as Surveyor of Royal Mint (1765-1793), and married at Hurst, Berks 12.4.1766 Frances Dalby (dau of John Dalby will PCC 4.9.1762 Hurst, Berks mentioned estates in Jamaica, wife Charlotte). Their children Dulcibella born 24.4.1768 bapt 28.5.1768 St John the Evangelist, Westminster, William born 16.5.1769 bapt 13.6.1769 there, Robert Septimius bapt 14.10.1770 Hurst, Berks, George born 14.10.1771 bapt 16.11.1771 St George Hanover Sq, John born 6.12.1772 bapt 16.1.1773 there, Charlotte Catherine born 4.7.1774 bapt 3.8.1774 there, Charlotte Ctherine born 9.6.1777 bapt 11.7.1777 there, Catherine Elizabeth bapt 15.9.1779 St James Piccadilly.  John Vardy of Grosvenor Pl voted 1774 Mountmorris & Mahon, 1780 Fox, 1784 Hood & Wray, 1788 Hood. John Vardy committed to Kings Bench prison 6.5.1790 at the suit of John Scott £118.10s, Joseph Dalby wid (his sister-in-law, perhaps a 'friendly' suit) £571.10s, John Beardmore £140.10s, discharged 10.10.1794. His sister-in-law's will PCC 13.2.1792 Dulcibella Dalby sp dated 13.6.1783 mentioned niece Dulcibella Vardy, codicil 28.6.1791 repeated twice her sister Vardy's husband to have no power over legacy. His mother's will PCC 28.4.1803 of Hannah Vardy of Chelsea dated 12.5.1795 mentioned daus Margaret & Elizabeth. His wife's will PCC 27.3.1813 Frances Vardy widow of Kings Row Knightsbridge dated 26.2.1801 mentioned son George and daus Dulcibella, Charlotte Catherine & Catherine Elizabeth. His son George architect exhibited at Royal Academy 1800 & 1818 from 4 Brompton Row, Knightsbridge, buried from there 12.6.1835 age 63 at Chelsea, will PCC 30.11.1837 of Philippa Maria Vardy widow of Brompton Row.
