I can't see now why I suggested Thomas Young DNB 1773 - 1829 for the above four entries, except that he was a surgeon who would have known Carlisle, and an interesting thinker who might have been at Johnson's. (Oct 1794 to Edinburgh, toured Scotland summer 1795, to Gottingen 1795 dissertation Gottingen July 1796, resided 6 terms at Cambridge 1797-9, "appears to have spent as much time as possible in London")
Farington's diary 22.3.1810 "Mrs Offley spoke of Mr Young surgeon of Christopher Street, Finsbury Square father of Mr Young the actor". Thomas Young of Christopher Street, Fitzroy Square will PCC 1812. He could also have been any or all of the four entries above. In London 1774 he married Anna Benigna Vowell, daughter of William Vowell, a Moravian doctor at Bedford. According to the DNB article on Charles Mayne Young 1777-1856 his father was apparently a brutal and debauched tyrant, who treated his family with great cruelty, and finally abandoned his wife for another woman. In his will he left £100 to his third son Frederick Winslow Young 1781-1856 (see 23.11.1813 below) and the rest to a Miss Stransham. See also my entry for Young, Charles Mayne
