CHARLES DIBDIN (1745-1814)
CURRENT TEXT "References to an earlier marriage have not been substantiated, and the relationship with Harriet Pitt was probably considered irregular, as she already had a child out of wedlock before she met Dibdin. At about this time Dibdin transferred his affection to Anne Maria Wylde (1757-1835), of Portsea, possibly a relative of the prompter James Wild, and quickly married her. They had at least one daughter, Anne (bap.1776)."
SUGGESTED CHANGE <At about this time Dibdin transferred his affection to Anne Maria Wylde (1757-1835), of Portsea, possibly a relative of the prompter James Wild. They had at least one daughter, Anne (bap.1776) but did not marry until 30th September 1798 at St Anne Soho, presumably because Dibdin's first wife was still alive. (Charles Dibdin, bachelor of St John the Evangelist, Westminster had married Elizabeth Emblin, spinster of St Mary Aldermanbury, London on 20th April 1761 at St John the Evangelist and they baptised two children who probably didn't survive infancy).>
NOTES Dibdin was in debtors prisons June 1784 to Sept 1785, and from Nov 1788 to Dec 1789. He voted for Fox in 1780
