Son of Thomas Holcroft by his fourth wife Louisa, he was born 1.9.1804. In 1832 he arrived in New York, age 28, printer. Had perhaps learnt the trade with his uncle Charles Mercier. I guess the H Ht entries up to 1818 were Harwood rather than his brother Henry who was 2 years younger, but the 1819 H Ht was more likely Henry because of presence of John May, previously invited with him.
