Fairly clear from the above that H M and H Marshal were the same person. Quite likely a child or relative of James Marshall, though they only occurred twice together, but first entry is already abbreviated, as Marshall had been for decades, and last entry 18 days after Marshall's death, after not seeing Godwin for 3 years. Possibly Henry Marshall (from censuses of 1851, 1861 & 1871) clerk in British Museum, born c.1802 Yelverton, Norfolk, wife Margaret (perhaps married Margaret Draper at Hackney 1821) no children in censuses. Possibly Henry Marshall (1871 census) actuary, born c.1802 Battersea, died 1875 Kew. Less likely Henry Marshall (from censuses 1851-1881) waterman to London Dock Co., born 1803 Gravesend, wife Mary Ann; this last mainly because James Marshall may have been buried at Gravesend - a James Marshall was buried there 8 days after Godwin noted Marshall's death, maybe coincidence. For more on Marshall, see my entries for Marshall, Mrs and Godwin, Hannah.
