10.12.1794 at Martineau's / 23.12.1794 call on Martineau / 2.10.1795 Martineau at Montagu's.
Probably Peter Finch Martineau 1755-1848, (3rd son of David Martineau surgeon of Norwich) who with his brothers David and John had a brewery at King's Arms Stairs, Lambeth in 1789 and at Stamford St, Southwark in 1792. He was on the Revolution Society commitee in 1789 with Lambeth as his address, in the list of the Unitarian Society 1791 at Stamford St, and had a house in Brompton by 1800. He had married Catherine, sister of Charles Marsh at Norwich in 1784. Note that Marsh called on Godwin the day before this meal and was present at Martineau's so probably invited him. Peter's brother David had an address in James St, Westminster in 1797 but all David's children up to 1795 were baptised in Norfolk. Their younger brother Thomas (father of Harriet Martineau) was probably the T Martineau of 6.9.1805 and their older half-brother Philip Meadows the P Martineau of 8.9.1805, both these being in Norfolk where they lived. 17.1.1807, .12.11.1807, 15.2.1811 & 10.5.1811 were in London and may have been Peter, John or David; J Martineau 15.5.1811 presumably John; P Martineau 15.5.1811 & 21.6.1811 Peter; and 15.12.1811 Martineau Lambeth perhaps David, as Holdens 1811 gave his address as Stockwell Common, Peter's as Spitalfields and John's as Blackfriars, though their brewery may have still been at Lambeth and Peter later lived at the Paragon, Brixton Hill. 2.3.1820 Martineau jr could be any one of a number of their children, and the H Martineau's of 1834 seem to have been Harriet DNB 1802-1876
