In 1794 version of Godwin's 1796 list for 1784, left out of 1796 list / 14.12.1796 Moir at House of Commons (Austrian Subsidy)
Probably the Rev John Moir (see D Rivers, Literary memoirs of Living Authors p 51 (1798) who said he was "supposed to have been concerned in some of the newspapers") curate and rector of St Dionis Backchurch, supposed to have written a life of C J Fox in 1783 (also ascribed to a Mr Laurence) but his work "Preventive Policy" was said to be of quite conservative views. Morning Chronicle 22.11.1823 said Thomas Erskine when briefly Lord Chancellor presented Moir with a living, probably Nazeing, Essex, giving it to his friend James Perry when he was attending the House of Lords, as Moir from failing eyesight was no longer able to fulfil his longstanding engagement with the Morning Chronicle. His daughter married Philip Chabett at St Stephens Bristol on 31.10.1810
