Robert Neal corwainer of Lewes took an apprentice from 14.4.1803, and was leasing property from the Earl of Chichester in 1810 (East Sussex Record Office), Edwin Neal was a bootmaker of Lewes in 1827, his wife Susanna Rhoda nee Piercy

John Mason Neale was an established clerk in the Secretary's Office at East India House from 1780 to 1810. He was baptised 19.11.1758 at Rotherhithe son of Pendock & Susanna Neal, and he married Sarah Mellor of St Botolph Bishopsgate 10.5.1788 at St George in the East, witnesses John Comerford & Samuel Mellor. He was living at 6 Union Place, Lambeth (Holden's 1805). His will PCC 1820 gent of St George Middlesex dated 5.11.1796 mentioned East India House, his wife Sarah, Samuel Mellor & his wife Catherine and his sister Ann wife of Adam Sewell of Gravesend, a codicil of 1806 mentioned his late uncle George Neale (will PCC 1797 seen) and his friend Henry Hodges of Islington.
