Born 1734 Husthwaite Yorks, brother of William Peckitt (DNB 1731-1795 glass painter), Henry Peckitt apothecary of Compton St Soho married Soho 28.3.1767 Mary Watkins spinster of Northumberland St, St Martin i t Fields, (St James Chronicle 9.4.1767 said she had £11,000 fortune - her will PCC 1793 her brother Daniel Watkins naval surgeon will PCC 1800). He married 2ndly Soho 11.9.1796 Sarah Darby (see my entry for Darby, Mary &c) witnesses were William Butter (probably her brother-in-law) and (F?) Gerardin, both Swedenborgians. His will PCC 1808 mentioned son Henry, two daughters who had died, all by his second wife, nieces Harriet Peckitt and Mary Rowntree, wits 21.2.1806 James Cayford (QV*) John Darwin (QV*). The will contained many indications of his Swedenborgian beliefs, including giving his body to science. His widow Sarah = St Geo Han Sq 1.1.1812 Charles Jenkins, and she died before Aug 1816 intestate. Despite being a Westminster householder for forty years Peckitt never voted there but having bought the freehold of his house in Soho he voted for Burdett in Middlesex 1802. His obituary in Gents Mag said he was an intimate acquaintance of Emmanuel Swedenborg
