From the mentions in letters cited above, Miss Clarke appears to have been living with the Godwins, perhaps as a tutor, or general help, and from the phrase "departs" unusual in Godwin's diary, I conclude that D Clarke was that Miss Clarke, and mrs & L Clarke members of her family
