Most of the above entries are coded on the GD website to Alexander Walker about whom not much is known, and I haven't discovered much more. The GD website has missed the 5 AW entries in March and April 1801. Of the plain Walker entries above with no initial the GD website has coded 28.6.1800 and 21.1.1801 to Alexander Walker, with which I agree, but has left 10.2.1800 and 15.1.1801 unidentified, and I agree these may not have been Alexander Walker, though they could have been. If they were not him the lack of any identifying initial suggests (though doesn't necessarily imply) a continuity of another Walker both before and after the period from January 1800 to April 1801 when Alexander Walker visited frequently, and there were 8 plain Walkers in May and June 1801, three associated with Northcote and one at Nicholson's, who don't seem to have been Alexander Walker (for these plain Walker entries see my website under Walker). An undated (except for Tuesday morning) letter from Alexander Walker to Godwin is in Abinger c15 f85r in which Walker pleaded near-death poverty and referred to Godwin's displeasure with and abandonment of him. This letter probably belonged to June 1801 when AW made a last attempt to call on Godwin, after the "remonstrate" followed by one supper that April. If the entries of 1824 were the same Alexander Walker, he at least must have managed to survive. The association with Martin Smart, the militia sergeant who had written to Godwin from Manchester, but apparently first met Godwin at the liberation of Walker on 21.1.1801 and then coincided at Godwin's with Walker three times, may be of interest.
