Mrs Correge's Hotel 21 Suffolk St ads 1770-79 / 1803 Nat Arch PROB 18/110/13 John Correge, husband v Mary Brownbill widow, Elizabeth & Louisa McDaniel spinsters, William & Charles McDaniel, the pretended great nephews and nieces, of Mary Correge who died 20.2.1803 intestate. As Mary Fraser spinster she had married at St Werburgh's Dublin 14.12.1754 John Correge of Castle St, Dublin, where they were in the trades of jeweller and milliner, but then separated (articles of separation 30.7.1757). About 1762 she wrote to her husband in Dublin to help her demanding payment of money lent to Captain Roche,she was then in Poland St, St James, at the Gold-Lamp near Golden Square. About 1799 John Correge was at Change Court in the Strand, and his wife Mary then in Jermyn St hearing of his poverty allowed him £20 p.a. She lived before her death in Sloane St, Chelsea, and was buried from there on 25.2.1803 age 78 at Chelsea. Elizabeth McDaniel of Panton Square and his wife's other relatives offered him £50 p.a. to renounce admon, not telling him her estate was worth £4000.
