His father, also John, was an attorney of Penryn, Cornwall, son of Peter Penwarne and possessed of some property, his will proved Exeter 1789. In 1779 a John and an Edward Penwarne were articled as clerks to John Penwarne of Penryn. Edward Penwarne lived at 4 Church Terrace, St Pancras (SunFire 1802 & Holden's 1805). John Penwarne married Anne Kevill at Camborne, Cornwall 29.12.1798. He was living at Stafford Street, Mayfair when in 1821 his daughter Anne married Capt. George Wellings (Exeter Flying Post 7.6.1821) and when he wrote his will 19.8.1837 (proved PCC 17.3.1838) mentioning a son John.
