Paterson (Coryat) was certainly Samuel Paterson DNB 1728-1802 who used the pseudonym Coryat for his Another Traveller! 1767. He died from a fall on 29.11.1802 so could have also been the next two Paterson entries at Johnson's in 1799 and 1802. Colonel Paterson was probably Daniel Paterson DNB 1738-1825, although he only became Lt Col on 1.1.1798 and although Johnson never published his books of Roads, he was the only Colonel Paterson or Patterson in army lists for 1798, including militia and Indian army lists. Col Patterson of Dean St Soho subscr 1800 to Wildman was probably him. Whether the Patersons after 1802 were him I rather doubt but I can't otherwise identify them at present
