subs to Egerton Leigh's Munster Abbey 1797 included mrs Lind of Bruton St and mrs Lind of Stratford Place. Edward George Lind of 16 Stratford Place (will PCC 1832) had married Elizabeth Ainslie at Kendal in 1786. His brother Francis of 30 Bruton St (will PCC 1840 of Twickenham) married his cousin Anne daughter of theĀ engraver Richard Cooper DNB 1701-1764. Mrs Lind of Bruton St was also named in Cesare Mussolini's ItalianĀ conversation book of 1800 which rather charmingly listed the ladies he knew in London who played harp piano and guitar so that for a whole page of the book the English and Italian columns were identical. She also subscribed in 1800 to works by Wildman, Thomas moore & Sarah Cobbe. Francis Lind's will of 1840 mentioned his late wife's picture by John Smart (DNB 1741/2-1811). The Lind at Perry's in 1806 might have been either of the two brothers mentioned above or their cousin James Lind DNB 1736-1812 physician at Windsor, or other cousins Major George Lind will PCC 1838 or Morris Alexander Lind. There was also a Mrs Lind who died at Cheshunt in 1799, widow of a former packer to the East India Company and daughter of Admiral Gascoigne (his will PCC 1753). John Lind DNB 1737-1781, a second cousin and friend of Jeremy Bentham, had married Mary Welch at St Geo Queen Sq 31.12.1774 and she was still alive in 1794 (see his DNB article).
