There were a number of prominent people named BurtonĀ in Ireland in 1800 (Sir Charles Burton baronet of Polarton, co. Carlow son of Sir Charles Hist Irish Parl 1702-1775 / Francis Burton Dict Irish Biog d.1828 surgeon / William Henry Burton Dict Irish Biog 1739-1818 / Francis Nathaniel Nurton Hist Irish Parl 1766-1832) but this is likely to have been Charles Burton 1760-1847 (Judges in Ireland, E Elrington Ball, vol2 p341) who became Curran's chief assistant (see L Hale, John Philpot Curran pp87-8, 273). I have not included above the Burton of 1814 associated with Godwin's financial affairs, but the entries of October 1817 around Curran's death were very likely Charles Burton again, the last two entries above in 1819 and 1832 were not so likely to have been him
