John Hurford Stone1763-1818 DNB
CURRENT TEXT "his younger brother William"
SUGGESTED CHANGE <his older brother William>
NOTES I haven't found Wiilam Stone's birth or death details or any records giving his age but William Stone of Rutland Place, Thames Street became a member of the Honorable Artillery Company on 18.10.1780 and John Hurford Stone of Homerton joined it on 21.12.1781. William Stone coal merchant of Thames Street married Ann Chance of Upton Worcs 27.11.1782 (Morning Herald & Morning Post 30.11.1782) and John Hurford Stone married Rachel Cope or Coope at Fulham 22.9.1786. Both brothers subscribed to William Williamson's Stenography 1775, William from a London address, and John Hurford from Teventon, presumably a mistake for Tiverton. Mrs Stone of Tiverton Devon and William Stone of Thames St London subscribed to Mary Deverell's Sermons 1776. If John Hurford Stone's birth date of 1763 is correct he would have been only 13 in 1776 when William was already in London. Their father William had married Mary Hurford at Bickleigh nr Exeter on 1.2.1749
