George Winter of Chancery Lane proposed Society for Constitutional Information 15.11.1782 by William Falkener 2nded Thomas Hinton Burley Oldfield
I found nothing to connect George Winter with Chancery Lane but there are good reasons to suppose he was the surgeon of Newgate St who was buried 8.5.1823 age 61 at Christ Church, London, chiefly because William Falkener who proposed him as a member was married to a De Rippe and so was he. Along with another later member of the SCI, Francis Weldon, at whose son's wedding a Sarah de Rippe was witness, they both had connections with Stamford, Lincs, and the nearby part of Northants, Kings Cliffe and Duddington, where the De Rippes lived. George Winter of Stamford St Michael = Wakerley, Northants 26.4.1783 Mary D'Rippe otp by lic. Mary Parrot Winter dau of George Winter apothecary & his wife Mary, was born 26.9.1784 and baptised 31.10.1784 at Stamford St Michael and again on 26.9.1786 at All Hallows, Lombard St, London. Their daughters Sarah & Elizabeth were baptised 22.7.1785 at Stamford St Michael and both buried there shortly after. In 1788 George Winter surgeon of St Olave Silver St, London took an apprentice Henry R Bodker. In Land Tax books 1788 Dr George Winter was at Noble St, and in 1798 at Newgate St. Directories listed him at 1 Falcon sq, Aldersgate St in 1786 and 1793, when he was also insured there as a surgeon (SunFire). His daughter Mary Perrott Winter = Christ Church Newgate 7.8.1804 Henry Llewellin (of Clements Inn see Jacksons Oxford Journal 18.8.1804). In Holdens directory 1811 Henry Llewellin attorney was at 30 Noble St, as were Llewellin & Son water gilders (probably Henry's father). Noble St was adjacent to Falcon Square. The will PCC 1823 of George Winter surgeon of Newgate St mentioned his wife Mary. Morning Chronicle 29.4.1823 George Winter Esq died at his house in Newgate St age 64, many years a Common Councilman of the ward of Farringdon Within. He was not the author of History of Animal Magnetism, to which are added Dissertations on the Dropsy &c by George Winter MD published 1801. This was by George Winter of Charlton, near Bristol, an interesting character and author of A Compendious System of Husbandry &c as is clear from the dedication and introduction of History of Animal Magnetism, though I didn't find when or where he obtained a medical degree, or when he died
