1.2.1845 "I found Miss Denman in trouble - She has been ill-treated by Miss Bourgoin with whom her late sister Marian lived but she ought to feel the death of her sister a great comfort"
Mary Ann Denman buried 29.1.1845 from Upper Norton St age 64. She was an unmarried sister of Maria Denman, perhaps the Mary Ann Denman bapt 3.1776 at Whitechapel, though her age at death suggests she was born about 1780, while Maria Denman was born on 25.8.1779 though not baptised till 19.5.1785. Robinson referred to Maria as Miss Denman (without the Maria), which usually implied the oldest unmarried sister, her younger sister Caroline (born 11.2.1785) Robinson referred to on 31.8.1843 as Miss Car. Denman. Robinson wouldn't have made the comments above if Marian hadn't been severely ill and perhaps disabled. Miss Bourgoin was presumably acting as a carer. There was an Ellen Bourgoin age 31 artificial flower maker at 18 Hanway St in the 1841 census, living with Mary Bourgoin age 58, Henery Bourgoin age 8 and Hipolite Bourgoin age 9, all born in foreign parts, and a Mrs Helene Bourgoin artificial flower maker was in an 1843 diectory at Hanway St and in an 1845 directory at 34 Manchester Sq. Nearby at 21 Rathbone Place in the 1841 census were George Bourgoin age 35 lithographer and Elizabeth Bourgoin age 32 dressmaker, both born foreign parts, and Eliza Bourgoin age 1 born Middlesex
