HCR diary 22.3.1838 "I have some hope of obtaining throughh L'Evesque an introduction to Seguire"

Seguire was William Seguier (DNB 1772-1843), keeper of the National Gallery from 1824 (QV*). Robinson wanted to sell some of Aders' pictures to the Gallery. The most prosperous Levesque in London was Peter Levesque of 29 Guildford St, Russell Sq, who was Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries, of the Royal Geographical Society, and active in the Royal Literary Fund. He was probably born 31.7.1779 of Pierre Levesque and Anne Olivier and baptised 18.8.1779 or born 6.6.1781 of Louis Daniel Levesque and Elizabeth Soublen and baptised 24.6.1781, both at Threadneedle St Hugenot Chapel, London. In the 1851 census he was at 29 Guildford St unmarried annuitant & landed proprietor age 69 born City of London. He died 17.12.1858 age 79 (Standard 23.12.1858) and his effects were under £10.000. He was likely a member of the Athenaeum club. There were other Peter Levesques in London, a musician in Hackney whose son was a pianoforte maker in Hoxton, and a commercial traveller from Islington.
