William Pickett of Christ Chrch Newgate St bach married at St Sepulchre 27.9.1757 Elizabeth Pratten otp sp by banns wits James Pearson (QV*), Wm Theed. William Pickett 1758 sub to Samuel Hayward's sermons and to Society for Promoting Religious Knowledge among the Poor. 1773 Voted for Frederick Bull as MP for London. 1781 sub to Abraham Portal's Poems. Address 1782 Harpur St. 1783 alderman of Cheap and later of Cornhill wards. 1784 Coetlogon's Sermon preached at Newgate dedicated to him. 1788 his "Apology to the Public" (re Bank of England) published, sub to Wm Gordon's America, address Red Lion Square. 1789 on Committee of Revolution Society, his "Public Improvement" (re: removal of Temple Bar) published. 1790 Lord Mayor of London, sub to Olaudah Equiano, stood for MP for London came bottom of poll with 1064 votes. 1795 address 16 Sherborne Lane, & SouthWeald, Essex. 1796 stood for parliament again, came 5th of 6 with 2795 votes, address Old Jewry. His wife died at Ditchleys, Essex 4.10.1796, he died 16.12.1796 at Ditchleys (Telegraph 19.12.1796). His will PCC 17.1.1797 dated 25.11.1796 of Ditchleys and Old Jewry mentioned his dau Mary, his natural dau Mrs Shove, his natural son Paul William Parkinson (born 1.2.1794 bapt 9.3.1794 St Marylebone of William & Sarah Parkinson) and Mrs Parkinson, the natural children of his son (William Pickett born 7.7.1759 died 29.1.1796), Miss Sach, friend Miss E Bird, execs Wm Bird f Broad St and Caleb Talbot of Smithfield
