Possibly Thomas Thorp articled clerk 23.8.1773 for 5 years to Thomas Dykes attorney of Shadwell. He was son of Thomas Thorp of Vintners Co, deputy for Farringdon Without ward and master of the Globe Tavern Fleet St, who was buried 4.10.1787 at St Bride's age 65, his will PCC 19.11.1787 dated 17.4.1784 mentioned daus Susanna & Jane and brother-in-law Thomas Dykes. St Jas Chron 15.4.1788 death of wife of Thomas Dykes attorney Shadwell. Thomas Thorp rector of Oxted Surrey 17.2.1793 until his death 19.1.1828 patrons Robert Slade, proctor Doctors Commons and Thomas Dykes Esq of Shadwell (theclergydatabase.org). Morn Herald 28.11.1797 Rev Thomas Thorp rector of Oxtead, Surrey married at St Andrew Hubbard Miss Maria Crotty 2nd dau of late Andrew Crotty Esq, Lt Governor of Fort George, Scotland. The will PCC 22.12.1802 of Thomas Dykes of Shadwell Esq dated 2.12.1801 mentioned sisters Jane, Mary & Susannah, an unnnamed brother and his son Joseph, Ann Chaplin niece of his late wife, William Breach husband of his niece Susannah, Thomas James husband of his niece Jane, and released his nephew Rev Thomas Thorp from his debt. Thomas Dykes from King David Lane bur Shadwell 23.12.1802. I found nothing to connect this Thomas Thorp with New Inn except that he was likely to have practiced as an attorney from 1778 and New Inn was a typical address for lawyers
