Presumably son of John Tayler and Sarah Bayly who married 17.7.1752 or 17.7.1751 somewhere in Suffolk (familysearch.org). From his age at burial he was born about 1752. He took an apprentice as grocer of Woodbridge 1776 (and another in 1790 at a premium of £105). His son John Bayly Tailer junior was born 22.2.1787 son of John Bayly Tailer & Elizabeth and baptised at age 44 on 3.10.1831 at Woodbridge Independent on the same day as three teenage children of him and his wife Lydia. His mother's maiden name was probably Ely (see their daughter's marriage below). John Bayly Tailer, Woodbridge Socy for Promoting Religious Knowledge among Poor 1782, subscr 1 gn to Socy for Abolition of Slave Trade (Morn Chron 21.11.1788), subscr to Wm Gordon's History of America 1788, to Mrs Sarah Spence's Poems 1795, & to H Crabb's Sermons 1796. James Isaac of Witham = Woodbridge 9.4.1795 Elizabeth Ely Tailer. Juvenile Library 1800 Emma age 15 dau of J B Tailer won 5/- essay prize. Elizabeth wife of John Bayly Tailer died 10.7.1801 age 49 buried Woodbridge meeting house 17.7.1801 (& Morn Chron 23.7.1801). John Bayly Tailer wid = Woodbridge 10.1.1804 Mary Abbott Studd wid. George Ely = 29.10.1805 Emma Tailer. Emma wife of George Ely died 18.7.1815 age 30 bur Woodbridge meeting house 22.7.1815. John Baily Tailer of Stowupland formerly of Woodbridge died 1.5.1817 age 65 bur Woodbridge meeting house 9.5.1817. His will PCC 14.10.1817 John Bayly Tailer of Stowupland gent dated 19.1.1810 mentioned son John Bayly Tailer, Frederick Norman of Stowmarket hemp manufacturer, son in law George Ely, George Cornell late of London but now of Wheely, Essex, (George Lamb of Ipswich, Amos Oxx of Woodbridge, Ann wife of Thomas Saunders of Dagenham his former servants), son George washington Tailer, grandchildren James isaac & Eliza Tailer Isaac, dau Emma Ely, codicil 4.2.1815 mentioned late dau Emma Ely, friend Manning Prentice of Stowmarket grocer & draper. His widow's will PCC 6.2.1828 Mary Abbott Tailer mentioned children by her first marriage, John Palmer Studd and Mary Abbott wife of Edward James Pasquier. His grandson John Bayly Tailer surgeon of Cambridge died age 32 will PCC 1847. His son John Bayly Tailer in 1851 census Woodbridge age 64 widower "clerk & gelatine & isinglass manufacturer".
