William Turnbull son of William Turnbull DNB 1723-1796. (His father perhaps as William Turnbule otp married Agnes Robson of Cavers & Paul at Wilton, Roxburghshire 12.11.1749 and as William Turnbull married Elizabeth Brown at Bedrule, Roxburghshire 8.12.1770 botp. Only identified as the correct William Turnbull by an Ancestry user-submitted tree, which may be guesswork. There was also a marriage of William Turnbull to Euphan Lauder at Bedrule on 25.11.1757. Wilton, Bedrule and Cavers are all near Hawick. In subscribers to Poetical Museum (Hawick 1784) there were 3 William Turnbulls, two at Hawick, one a wright and one a stocking-maker).

A William Turnbull son of William Turnbull & Anne was born 31.12.1759 at Wooller, Northumberland, where his father practised from 1752 to 1775. Flyer Oct 1796 signed Wm Turnbull, Fen Court, Fenchurch St, surgeon to Institution for Relief of Ruptured Poor, Morn Post 27.12.1796 with Henry Cline. 8.11.1796 joined Whig Club. 1799 governor of Scots Hospital. Morn Post 21.4.1801 ad for A Few General Rules (re ruptures) 4th ed (7th ed 1804) treatments at his house in Bell Savage Yard. Newcastle Courant 16.4.1803 bankrupt William Turnbull of Fenchurch St & Bell Savage Yd, Ludgate Hill. Publ 1805 The Medical Works..(of his father) Vol 1, no further volume appeared. Jackson's Oxford Journal 9.12.1809 ad for The Naval Surgeon by William Turnbull. He was perhaps the William Turnbull who was buried at Bunhill Fields 27.4.1808 age 46 from Holborn.
