James Stevenson son of Hugh Stevenson surgeon of Egham, Surrey (will PCC 1792). Morning Chronicle 17.11.1788 a dispute concerning Sir Joseph Mawbey and a game of whist at Staines. Sun 20.2.1795 defendant in case brought by Ross, wine merchant. From 1802-7 involved in Chancery disputes with John King's stepson Augustus Butler Danvers. The Morning Chronicle 2.2.1811 described him as surgeon to John King. The Hampshire Telegraph 22.7.1811 Rex v. Davison & others, Dr James Stevenson in Fleet prison. His will PCC 1822 doctor of medicine of 14 Seymour Place, Kentish Town, left all to Mrs Henrietta Osborn who had lived with him for 22 years. In a chancery case of 1807 she was a defendant along with Stevenson, John King and Lady Lanesborough, where she was called Harriet Osborn widow formerly Harriet Van Noorden, her mother Jozina Vanderspruyl having died about November 1804.
