Charles Warren 1764 -1829 (eldest son of Dr Richard Warren DNB 1731-1797) Jesus Coll Cambr 1780, Lincolns Inn 1781, called to bar 1790, Whig Club 1790, Friends of People 1792, witness in Lord Thanet's case re Maidstone courtroom fracas 1799, counsel in Horne Tooke's libel case 1799, mentioned (with many of Tooke's circle) in Dr John Warner's will PCC 1800, was MP for Dorchester 1819-1826, and was married to Amelia dau of Wm Chas Sloper of Sundridge Kent, in the house of Lady Jones (widow of Sir William Jones DNB 1746-1794), South Audley St on 9.7.1813 by Dr Charles Shipley of Finmere, see his father Jonathan Davies Shipley DNB 1745-1826 whose sister was Lady Jones. Charles Shipley's sister Penelope married Charles Warren's brother Pelham, Amelia Sloper's mother was a Shipley, and Charles Shipley himself married her cousin Charlotte dau of Robert Orby Sloper on 25.6.1821 (see Sloper)
Charles Warren's mother was Elizabeth nee Shaw, her will (PCC 1809) dated 18.2.1799 of Dover St, St Geo Han Sq mentioned the paintings of her two daughters Charlotte and Maria, asked to be buried in Kennington church, she died on 23.7.1809 (newspapers) and her handwriting was sworn to on 8.8.1809 giving her last address as Argyle St, St James Piccadilly. Mrs Inchbald wrote mourning verses for Dr Warren addressed to her.

mrs Warren may have been the actress Ann Warren (nee Powell) who married John Martindale on 8.8.1795 at St Geo Han Sq. Martindale who co-owned White's famous gambling club in St James was supposed to be extremely rich but went bankrupt in 1797 and again in 1804. Just before Godwin's 1796 list on f46r after 24.9.1796 in his diary, he noted "£25 a night, Martindale to mrs Strutt or Lady Bucks. F.R." (which means he heard this gossip from Frederic Reynolds - see the next line which was about Reynolds and also ended F.R.) This probably refers to Henry Martindale who was fined in 1797 for keeping a faro table in the house of Lady Buckinghamsuire (see Hobart, George DNB 1731-1804). Lady B was also fined for playing as was a Mrs Sturt
