The subject om 8.12.1795 was "Are not the most probable means left of saving the country from the despotism of the Minister - an immediate junction of the Whig Interest and the Corresponding Society?" Wharton, John
19.5.1793 Seward, Knight, Goring, Wathen at Tooke's / 1.11.1794 Wharton at Hardy's trial.
Although Wathen could have been Jonathan Wathen, noncomformist surgeon of Walbrook, or Josiah Iles Wathen, special pleader Middle Temple, Wharton came (inserted above the line) directly after Seward and Goring in 1793 in Godwin's 1796 list, so this was very likely John Wharton (History of Parliament) 1765-1843. Wharton also appeared twice in the 1796 list for 1794, both times crossed out, and neither time coded to John Wharton's person record in GD website. In the 1794 version of the 1796 list…

Anna Doyle Wheeler DNB 1785?-1848. The dates fit with her times in London from the DNB article. The Wheeler at Lady Caroline Lamb's does not have a feminine title, but Godwin often dropped it especially for independent-minded women. It could also have been Mrs Wheeler's daughter Rosina, as Edward Bulwer Lytton was present and would propose to her the next month,…

Probably the barrister and equity draftsman John Whishaw 1765-1840 , later known as "the Pope of Holland House", a Whig fixer and executor of Samuel Romilly's will in 1818. His letters are much quoted in History of Parliament but there seems to be no biographical notice of him in any reference works but I found something on the net at www.turtlebunbury.com and a book "The Pope of…

White
In Godwin's 1796 list for 1780 and also in the 1794 version, between Munnings and Harmer. There is a person record in GD website for 'generic' White but the entry in the 1796 list has not been coded to it. 22.1.1789 White (after Warton and before Kippis) at Robinson's / 24.1.1789 White (after Warton and before Kippis) at Hamilton's / no more for 3 years
I have done some research on the White entries in Godwin's diary but I'm still some way from identifying them all, I will probably add to this entry later but for now I'll discuss who the White in 1780 and the White in 1789…
