Thomson / Thompson

The listing below convinces me that it is pointless distinguishing between Thomson and Thompson (not a Tintin joke). Godwin may have sometimes used the two spellings to distinguish two people who appeared close to each other in the diary (e.g. possibly 18.9.1815), but he clearly also used both spellings randomly for the same person, see for example the Thomson/Thompson linked to Curran in 1817 or the two spellings of Marmaduke Thompson in 1804 and 1806. As I am working through the diary I naturally have less ideas about the later entries but they are set out below waiting for answers

In Godwin's 1796 list for 1783 crossed out, in 1794 version added in small letters along with Robinson and Cadell. Godwin added the three publishers together but crossed out the two who didn't become his publisher

Thomas Harmer DNB 1714-1788 mentioned in W St Clair, The Godwins and the Shelleys, as one of the ministers Godwin came into conflict with at Stowmarket

White

In Godwin's 1796 list for 1780 and also in the 1794 version, between Munnings and Harmer. There is a person record in GD website for 'generic' White but the entry in the 1796 list has not been coded to it. 22.1.1789 White (after Warton and before Kippis) at Robinson's / 24.1.1789 White (after Warton and before Kippis) at Hamilton's / no more for 3 years

Worthington, Hugh

In Godwin's 1796 list for 1779 also in 1794 version

Hugh Worthington DNB 1752-1813 a London dissenting preacher from 1774. Didn't appear in Godwin's daily diary entries dating from 1788

Fordyce, James

In Godwin's 1796 list for 1779, also in 1794 version and list of 17 (at end of diary Vol VI see 1796 list on this website) though one of 5 from that list who were dropped in the list of 25 that preceded the1796 list. Person record in GD website but 1796 list entry not coded to it 

James Fordyce DNB 1720-1796. Up to 1782 a noted London preacher though of declining popularity by 1779, Godwin noted his death on 1.10.1796
