Star 4.4.1795 witness (see Firth 28.6.1794). He may be the Bartholomew Sewell who was buried at Walworth, Surrey 26.11.1813.
The "dine at Sewel" 13.7.1796 may refer to Samuel Sewell farmer of Wood…

Shakeshaft

call on H(olcrof)t at Harwwood's adv Mathans & Shakeshaft 5.5.1804

This entry has been mistranscribed on GD website as Shakerhaft . For possibles see work notes below

Shakespear

29.2.1796 call on Nothcote, talk of Shakspear & Burke

Obviously William Shakespeare the playwright but GD website still has it underlined as an unidentified person

sharer

sharer 11.3.1800 adv at theatre / 6.5.1800 again / 2.2.1801 Renter adv at theatre

Possibly these entries referred to the arrangements Godwin had with the Drury Lane theatre for free tickets, all three entries above were at that theatre, but the Renter entry with a capital R may have referred to a surname, though it was a rare one. Samuel Renter bur 20.12.1827 Westminster (noncomformist) / George Frederick Renter = 1813 St Clement Danes Hannah Moore / Thomas son of John & Susanna Renter bapt 1791 Holborn St Sepulchre

Sharp, Richard

SOCIETY FOR CONSTITUTIONAL INFORMATION: Richard Sharp of 6 Fish St Hill proposed member 13.9.1782 by Joseph Brown 2nded Edward Hall

GODWIN DIARY: In Godwin's 1796 list for 1790 as Sharpe followed by Gram crossed out and Rd inserted above before Sharpe, and in 1794 version as Sharpe, hatter. Richard Sharp has a person record in GD website but the 1796 entry is not coded to it. The Gram looks like Godwin confused him while making the list (see Sharpe, Granville)

Richard Sharp DNB 1759-1835

Sharp, William

SOCIETY FOR CONSTITUTIONAL INFORMATION: William Sharpe of Charles St, Cavendish Square proposed member 22.3.1792 by John Horne Tooke 2nded John Augustus Bonney

William Sharp DNB 1749-1824

Sharpe

20.11.1809 call on Sharpe

In a string of calls on mostly booksellers going west from St Pauls to Piccadilly, this was very likely John Sharpe bookseller & publisher at 186 Piccadilly (bbti, Holdens directory 1811 Sharpe & Hailes). Coded on GD website to a generic Sharpe person record

Sharpe, Granville

22.11.1794 (alongside week ending) Sharpe Gram at Tooke's trial.

Surely Granville Sharp DNB 1735-1813. In Godwin's 1796 list for 1790 he put Rd Sharpe, then Gram (crossed out). There are two Sharpe entries in 1790, one on 15.3.1790 at Brand Hollis' and one on 4.11.1790 at the Revolution Society, where Sharpe was one of the supporters of Horne Tooke's motion against the nobility, along with Cooper and Favell. One of them must have been Richard Sharp as the 1796 list made clear, and probably both were.

Sharpe, Mrs

2.11.1795 at Richard Johnson's

Perhaps accompanying a daughter of the recently deceased James Boswell, Betsy aged 15 or more likely Euphemia aged 21. Not found the name in the indexes to Boswell's Journal

Sharples

Sharpless 23.8.1801 calls / 10.11.1801 Sharples calls / 16.11.1801 Sharples calls (sit)

James Sharples DNB 1751/2-1811 portrait painter (identified by the "sit"). The spelling Sharpless was used for his vote as portrait painter of Gerrard St Soho for Hood & Wray in 1764, and the two spellings were quite often given as alternatives for one person, surprisingly perhaps as we would now pronounce them each quite differently

Shaw

3.10.1788 Godwin writes to Lomer & Shaw / 1.9.1790 Shaw at Holcroft's / 10.7.1800 Shaws at Mcnally's (in Ireland) / 1.2.1803 Shaw adv at Museum / 3.7.1804 at Combe's / 6.2.1805 adv at Museum / 11.7.1805 meet Shaw / 31.8.1828 miss Shaw at (Joshua) Robinson's / 22.11.1828 Shaw at (Joshua) Robinson's / 12.3.1831 Shaw at (T P) Cooke's

The 1800 Ireland entry may have referred to Robert Shaw Dict Irish Biog 1774-1849 banker and son of Dublin merchant, anti-union at this time but became pro=government and anti-Catholic. Subscrs to Samuel Whyte 1795 Robert Shaw, Post Office, Dublin…

Sheath

Sheath Amn 31.10.1801 at D Stuart's

Shee, Martin Archer

In Godwin's 1796 list for 1795 but not coded to his person record in GD website
