He or his father one of two outlets for Swedenborg's works in 1781 (newspaper ads)

The first entry above is transcribed Da[-rn?]al in GD website. The original is hard to read but in the light of the three Derville entries following it was probably Darval. Robert Dupont Derval was a Major in the York Rangers from 26.12.1796 until 1797. Destenonville

French National Legislative Assembly 8.3.1792 a French officer Destinanville had been expelled from Pondicherry and was asking the assembly's support to be reinstated. 20.2.1794 the Military Commission of Angers condemned to death Desmarez called Destinanville, ex General of the troops of the Republic in La Vendee. These may both be the same person as the name is rare in France. It adds to the stream of foreign officers calling on Holcroft

A fairly common name in Ireland. Walter Devoy of Rotherhithe was apprenticed as a shipwright in 1767 and his son George born 1782 was admitted citizen of London in 1804 and married Catherine Sadler at St Botolph Bishopsgate 8.3.1805. He appeared in directories as a lighterman in Bermondsey 1822. His son George Atkinson Devoy was born 1819 Bermondsey, his will PCC 1853.

Dibbin, Henry

Henry Dibbin was baptised on 8.11.1772 son of Francis and Mary Dibbin at Thatcham, Berks. They kept an inn on the Bath Road. Francis Dibbin died in 1777 when Henry was young, and his mother married Edward Fromont. Fromont ran extensive coaching services from London to Bristol and Exeter and his stepson kept the inns at the London end. After his mother died in 1803, Dibbin defended a Chancery suit against his stepfather Fromont (Nat Arch C13/102/39 & C13/89/36). For his marriage see Jones, Louisa.

Because John Arnot's siter Lilias married Asbury Dickins of Philadelphia on 31.10.1803 and the 1805 entry was "pro Arnot" this Dickins was probably him. He took advantage of the relief of insolvent debtors in the Kings Bench Prison in 1806 (Morning Post 28.7.1806) so that was maybe where he was when Godwin sought him in 1805.
