HCR diary 27.6.1820 I just made a note - Flaxman against Barry (husband of mistress, Nollekens and lace hat). I don't recall the story but it was certainly John Flaxman (DNB 1755-1826) telling an anecdote of James Barry (DNB 1741-1806)

In the context of other plural names the misspelling still suggests some of his family were present. His first wife died in 1799 and his daughter Cecilia DNB 1767-1859 had married Edward Prentis Henslow in 1797, though she may have still been known by her stage name to Godwin. John Bartlam 1771-1823 see Samuel Parr DNB - Parr's pupil/assistant who later becme his companion and amanuensis. Son of Francis Bartlam of Alcester, matric. Merton College, Oxford 1789 age 18, BA 1793. Fellow of Merton and vicar of various parishes. Died 28.2.1823 at Lloyd's, bookseller of Harley St, of apoplectic fit. George Canning's letter journal mentions dining with Bartlam at Lord Boringdon's the previous week on 18.11.94

Luigi Bartolomici (Highfill, Burnim & Langhans) dancer, first advertised appearance at Drury Lane theatre 1799 / Old Bailey 28.5.1800 John Wilson a constable attempting to arrest Bartolomichi for a debt to Mr Aberer, tailor (see Haberer, Martin) on 15.3.1800 was acquitted of Bartolomichi's murder on the grounds that the dancer violently resisted arrest. This is perhaps the wife of Robert Barwell (DNB 1741-1804), who was Catherine nee Coffin (1769-1847) and so the young wife of a rich man. They married in 1785 and in 1786 newspapers reported her as sporting a phaeton and pair at Egham. Her married status is clear from the crossed out entry of 26.10.1788.
