The first entry above is transcribed Da[-rn?]al in GD website. The original is hard to read but in the light of the three Derville entries following it was probably Darval. Robert Dupont Derval was a Major in the York Rangers from 26.12.1796 until 1797. He was named as a defendant in a Chancery cause in 1807 to 1809 Timothy Stansfeld (will PCC 1829 obit of Feld House, New Cross in 75th year) vs Augustus Bultler Danvers (qv), Robert D'Ervall (abroad), John King, Jane Countess of…


Destenonville

French National Legislative Assembly 8.3.1792 a French officer Destinanville had been expelled from Pondicherry and was asking the assembly's support to be reinstated. 20.2.1794 the Military Commission of Angers condemned to death Desmarez called Destinanville, ex General of the troops of the Republic in La Vendee. These may both be the same person as the name is rare in France. It adds to the stream of foreign officers calling on Holcroft
